We are delighted to announce the organisation of the 4th Workshop on Legal Culture, which will be held in Lisbon on 7–9 September 2022, under the auspices of the Instituto de Estudos Medievais (NOVA-FCSH).

This workshop will bring together a number of specialists in legal and political history, to reflect on the varieties and the development of the relationship between law trained individuals and medieval government, between c. 1000 and c. 1500. Our aim is to produce a highly focused academic debate on a broad historical question, conceived as much as possible in terms of structure and change. For further information about how we propose to frame this question, as well as the premise, goals and structure of the workshop more generally, please read here.

If you are interested in this workshop, please check back regularly for updates and additional information. We will also post here any supporting materials relevant to the workshop. Please feel free to send any enquiries to mjbranco@fcsh.unl.pt or andrevitoria@fcsh.unl.pt.

The Organisers,

Maria João Branco and André Vitória
